Ministries at Saint James

​Saint James Parish encourages its parishioners to participate in one of our liturgical, social or music ministries. if you are interested, please contact the parish office.

Ministry ​Description
​Altar Server ​Altar servers assist the priest in preparing for Mass. The servers take part in the liturgy by performing tasks to help the priest celebrate Eucharist. Children who received their First Holy Communion can be altar servers.
​Arts & Environment ​Assist with the arts and environment needs of the church throughout the year. The group offers ideas, talents, and the valuable hands-on assistance to help create the beauty of our worship space.
​Choirs and Cantors ​Provide musical support of full and active participation in the liturgy.
​Communion Ministers to the Homebound ​These ministers assist the priest by distributing the Eucharist at Mass.
​Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion ​Parishioners assist the priest in providing pastoral care to the sick and homebound of the parish. The ministers take Eucharist to the sick whether they are at home, a personal care home or a nursing home.
​Funeral Altar Servers ​Assist the priest in serving funeral Masses. Adults are welcome.
​​Lectors ​Lectors proclaim the word of God during Mass or other liturgical functions. Lectors devote time to preparation and understanding of sacred Scripture.
​Resurrection Choir ​​The Resurrection Choir assist the grieving members of a funeral assembly by leading the sung prayers of the funeral liturgy.
​Ushers ​The ushers take up the offertory and distribute bulletins after Mass. They also assist as needed with emergencies or other necessary concerns.
Ministers of Hospitality

Ministers of Hospitality will assist ushers at each Mass.  This new ministry will serve to assist those attending in fulfilling the special expectations that will be needed to be observed in light of our current situation of the Pandemic.
